Britney sold 505.000 copies of het new album "Circus".

Britney Spears sold roughly 505,000 first-week units of Circus, based on estimates from both Soundscan and Hits Magazine. The tally closely corresponds with whisper numbers that pegged the release near gold, and easily puts Circus at the top of the weekly album charts.

It also offers credence to a quiet Britney comeback, one free of the typically high-profile drama. Circus is one of the strongest debut releases by a woman this year, bested only by Taylor Swift. The Britney debut is also among the ten of 2008, and eclipses the previous release, Blackout, which scored 290,000 first week units.

Additionally, lead single "Womanizer" posted a solid 286,000 downloads, though second-single "Circus" could eventually challenge that figure. Currently, the title track ranks number one on the iTunes Store, while "Womanizer" ranks 32nd.
